See you Later Skin Like an Alligator

Don’t let dry skin get you down or frizz get you frazzled. As much as we love the winter time, cool weather, fun out in the snow or sitting by the fire warming up, we don’t like the dryness it brings to our hair, skin and nails. Our hair, skin and nails get dry because the colder weather irritates it, with low humidity that causes us to lose moisture. Without moisture our skin can flake and become scaly, making us look dull and sallow. Our hair can get static electricity, have more split ends and dry scalps. Our hands and nails can become dry, scaly with dry cuticles that can lead to more hangnails.

To help prevent and heal this dryness we recommend drinking plenty of water. Our body is made up of 60% water. When you shower use warm water not hot, close the bathroom door to keep the moisture in while you are showering and keep your shower or bath time to under 10 minutes. Wash with a gentle, fragrance free cleanser, towel blot the skin with a soft dry towel and then apply one of our moisturizers to your dry skin and remember to use cuticle oil on your nails after shower or baths and every night before going to bed. For your hair use one of our moisturizing shampoo and conditioners. We recommend deep conditioning treatments for your hair once every 3 shampoos and daily leave in treatments immediately after every shampoo. Our expert team members can recommend the perfect hair, skin and nail regimen just for you and your level of  dryness.

We also recommend using a lip conditioner prior to lipstick and repeat the lip conditioner several times through out the day

Keep hand lotions near by so you can use them after every hand washing throughout the day. Wear your gloves when outside to prevent dry chapped hands. And for your face we recommend cleansing, toning and moisturizing in the am and pm. Depending on your skin type you will need additional masks and treatments. Our Skin Experts can do a skin analysis to help you have everything you need to keep your skin moist, supple and glowing.

We recommend using a humidifier in the house to add moisture and help prevent dryness to your hair, skin or nails. If you have a fireplace, you will want to increase the moisture the humidifier adds to your room to prevent additional dryness.
